    This book explains the Essentrics approach to exercise as well as presenting detailed routines that can be done based on your individual needs. The information presented here complements the Essentrics/Classical Stretch DVDs, with my favorite DVD being "Aging Backwards - Connective Tissue Workouts."

    Both the book and the DVDs show how to work your entire body so that you increase your range of motion and feel more flexible. I'm happy to have discovered this gentle and effective method of exercise.

    I love this book so much. I do all of Miranda’s videos, but wanted a book to have also. The pictures are somewhat small and that’s my only issue, but it’s still a great book and wonderful guide! The book is huge and very strong. I’ve been doing her Classical Stretch technique for 10 years now (I’m 43) and it’s made me feel like a million dollars.

    I have nothing but good things to say about this book! It provides a lot of information about why movement and flexibility are so important as people age. In addition to fotos and explanations of the routines and sequences in the book, the author provides the correct — and incorrect — ways of standing or doing a particular movement. The best part is that you can do any of the sequences at your own pace and ability, with minimal to no equipment, and almost anywhere. These routines definitely can provide terrific cardio, if you like. Combined with my yoga routines, these movements ease back, neck, shoulder and hip tightness.

    This is not like her other books. If you want to know her history or more in depth explanations as to why her system is so effective then you should buy her other books.

    80 percent of this book is a break down of her moves with both pictures and text.

    I do her workouts but I also wanted physical documentation to keep for the rest of my life. This will outlast dvds and I can take it with me on a remote vacation where I don't have other media. It is almost an academic study book to reference.

    Classic Stretch instructors or nerds like me will want this book. The rest may not be so interested.

    I have her other books on Kindle but this one you definitely want to get a physical copy of.

    I’ve used the Essentrics technique to rebuild strength from abdominal surgeries twice now, and each time it has amazed me at how effective this technique is - both times at age 26 and at 40! It’s unlike any other workout program out there - I’ve built the kind of strength and flexibility that allows me to do nearly any activity with ease and it’s due to Miranda’s unique method of building strength and flexibility simultaneously in the muscles with these exercises.

    One thing in this program is that you never stop moving in the exercises - they’re fluid and flowing, and I think this book has done a good job capturing it as well as they can with the pictures. I noticed a couple of the workouts from the book are now on their streaming platform, Essentrics TV, so hopefully they’ll add more! If you’re brand new to the technique, I definitely recommend trying those videos or looking for an Essentrics instructor in your area! It’s been so helpful for me to learn how to do the exercises correctly and know that my alignment is safe (which keeps my muscles and joints happy!) And personally, I like know why I’m doing a movement (rather than just mindlessly doing an exercise), so I don’t mind when Miranda talks about fascia or connective tissue while teaching ;)

    This book was very helpful to understand the philosophy and benefits of gentle exercises through Miranda Esmonde-White's Essentrics exercise videos. The pictures are helpful, and the full range of motion helps discover subtle benefits, especially as we age and see how only doing exercise as a flex, limits us from maintaining our entire bodies to fitness. It is similar to how throwing an uppercut exercises more than just the arm motion, with the foot movement and hips turning. I feel her weight shifting exercises improves durability as well as improve time management by not just focusing on one body part for hours; work smarter, not harder.

    The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and it's important to see how good form and knowing your limits maximize effectiveness and desire to make good habits out of an exercise.
