Unlike many exercise books, which are written for athletes, "Prescriptive Stretching" is written to prevent pain and injury in sedentary computer users. The author stresses seated posture. The entire book emphasizes exercises for muscles that become strained in computer users (such as the sternocleomastoid muscle, which causes "vulture neck" in computer users). Many can be done in one's office, even while seated at one's desk.
The illustrations are excellent, clear and detailed. Even the tiniest muscles are clearly shown, along with specific stretches. I had been suffering from sciatic pain caused by a tight pieriformis muscle, which hurt with every step I took. A stretch prescribed by this book healed that pain.
I highly recommend this excellent book for all computer users. If regularly practiced, the prescriptive stretches can prevent and heal the back, neck and shoulder pain that is so prevalent.
